Balancing a full time job with freelance work on my off days and friends and family :)

To start with, I dressed up in normal people clothes for the first time in god knows how long.  Took this selfie outside of Sandra's home after arriving 30 minutes early.

We had a really productive day. Sandra periodically invites guest chefs over to share their staple dishes. This week it was her dear friend and neighbor, Michelle, who brought Asian salmon packets.

Sandra's turkey meatloaf with homemade chipotle ketchup. Check out that steam, fresh out of the oven!

After spending four ridiculously productive hours at Sandra's I made my way to Oak Cliff to enjoy some fresh jambalaya at my cousin Tina's house.

Jim's famous margarita made with agave (I crave this beverage regularly). And his jambalaya and fried crocodile tail.

Tina is in the center sitting on the porch railing and Jim is to the right also sitting on porch rail. Their oak cliff neighbors were all invited and it was amazing to me how Texas folk always make it look like they've known each other forever.

Kenny and I had way too much fun with the action movie app and talking about Instagram. He's such a great kid, way too mature for a ten year old.

I ended the day by meeting up with David, Melissa, Matt and Austin Pray for his 21st birthday at Rocco's in uptown. We left Austin and his entourage of youngsters and headed to The Loon. The Loon is a dive bar that Matt insisted we drive to because it would be closing in four days. Very worth the trip. The drinks were strong, the place was packed and the people. Man, I love these people.
